PGDM admission process

SPJIMR is keen to engage with the finest from the vast talent pool available to further its mission: to influence managerial practice and promote value-based growth by advancing wise innovations. Its admissions and selection process is a well-developed process customised suitably for Indian and International applicants. In the context of the international applicants, the Government of India through AICTE has allocated PGDM an additional 36 seats to be filled exclusively by international students, including Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries and foreign nationals.

DISCLAIMER: Admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) at S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) is strictly based on merit. SPJIMR does not have any quota, management or otherwise. The assessment of an applicant is on the basis of his/her profile, the qualifying entrance scores and the interview process. SPJIMR communicates directly with all the shortlisted candidates. SPJIMR never appoints an intermediary (whether an individual or organisation) under any circumstance to approach any candidate with claims of confirmed admission, for a fee or otherwise. SPJIMR strongly recommends that you do not get involved in such transactions.

Note: As per the AICTE Notification (F.no. 1-101/PGRC/AICTE/Regulation/2019), all admission-related grievances will be looked into by the institute’s Grievance Redressal Committee (grc@spjimr.org) and the Ombudsperson appointed as per this notification.

Eligibility

Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from a recognised university. CAT and GMAT entrance scores are accepted. Both fresh graduates and candidates with maximum five years of work experience, can apply for the programme.

Application process

To apply for PGDM the aspirants must fill out the online application form available from September every year. The application processing fee is ₹ 2000. It is subject to revision.

Selection process

The applicants are shortlisted based on their profiles. They must also meet the qualifying scores in at least one of the entrance exams. The profiles are evaluated, and the applicants are sorted into two groups: Profile-based and Profile-cum-Score-based.

For selection, the applicants’ overall profile and the following factors are considered :

  • Academic background – A strong and consistent performance in 10th grade, 12th grade and every year of graduation.
  • Work experience – Relevance of work experience for the chosen specialisation.
  • Entrance scores – Meeting the minimum eligibility cutoff in the required entrance exam is mandatory.
  • Versatility and achievements -Endeavours in diverse fields of interest and noteworthy past achievements.

Eligibility

Although an entrance exam test for English proficiency is not mandatory, applicants have to be proficient in both written and spoken English. All teaching is conducted in English. SPJIMR will not be able to assist with English coaching once you have registered for the programme.

All international students seeking admissions at SPJIMR must apply for a ‘Student Visa’ that is valid for more than 180 days from their respective Indian Consulate/Embassy. Such students need to register with the Foreigners Registration Office (FRO/FRRO) in Mumbai within 14 days of their arrival in India. Foreign citizens of Indian origin can either come with a PIO or OCI card to study in India. Such students need not apply for a student visa to study in India. However, a PIO card holder will have to register with the FRO as his/her stay in India will be over 180 days.

Selection process

International candidates are assessed on the basis of their intellectual readiness (academics) and also on emotional readiness. Emotional readiness includes work experience, extra-curricular activities and aptitude for and befitting the Institute’s mission of promoting value-based leadership by adavncing wise innovations. Applicants have to meet the qualifying scores in at least one of the entrance exams.

The shortlist is based on their qualifying score and profile, and considers the following factors:

  • Consistency of academic record: Performance in high school and every year of graduation are considered
  • Relevance of work experience for the specialisation: Relevant work experience after graduation is considered.
  • Versatility & achievements: Endeavours in a diverse fields of interest and noteworthy past achievements.
