PGPFMB Batch 34 concludes International Immersion at Babson College

June 30, 2024

Participants of the Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) Batch 34 experienced an intensive ten-day international immersion at Babson College in Boston, USA, this June. The programme, titled ‘Lead like a CEO’, was specially designed to enhance the entrepreneurial acumen and leadership skills of our participants.

The customised programme featured an array of immersive modules, including Business Model Innovation, Entrepreneurial Finance, Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovator’s DNA, and Scenario Thinking in the Ecosystem, among others. One of the key highlights of the programme was the Mt. Everest Simulation, an innovative exercise that challenged participants to lead high-performance teams in unpredictable environments.

Beyond the classroom, the immersion extended to cultural exploration with activities such as the Boston Freedom Trail, a brewery tour, and an insightful industry visit to Nirvana Health. These activities provided a well-rounded experience, blending academic learning with cultural enrichment.

The famous Babson capstone event, the Rocket Pitch Presentation, allowed participants to apply their newly acquired knowledge to practical business scenarios, particularly those pertinent to their own family enterprises.

Such international immersions are vital in shaping SPJIMR participants into global business leaders. SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) is designed to groom new entrants in family businesses and enable organic growth for themselves and their family enterprises. It helps them preserve and nurture the legacy of earlier generations while leaving an indelible mark on the family business for years to come. Conceived and launched in 1997, the PGPFMB is a pioneer in post-graduate family-managed business programmes in India.
