The study sheds light on the significant challenges faced by caregivers of mental health patients in India, revealing a lack of knowledge, training, and support systems. The interviews with caregivers conducted as a part of the project underscored their struggles with caregiver burnout, financial strain, and managing household responsibilities alongside caregiving duties. Positive coping mechanisms such as spirituality and support groups emerged, and recommendations for systemic changes were made. This study underscored the urgent need for comprehensive support systems and policy reforms to alleviate caregiver burden and improve mental health outcomes in India.
