PGDM Curriculum and Programme Structure

PGDM academic year commences with the Harvard Business School’s pre-MBA foundation module. The first-year curriculum focuses on core functional and general management courses. In addition, participants begin their experiential learning journey with specially curated Immersive Experiences (Non-classroom learning initiatives) of PGLab, Abhyudaya, ADMAP, DoCC, SOS and Design and Innovation. The second-year curriculum focuses on making the participants industry ready. It integrates the functional and general management concepts and experiential learnings developed in the first year by engaging the participants with rigour in major and minor specialisations, a range of common electives, corporate internships, and international immersion at an international partner school with the Global Fast Track (GFT) module.

Programme structure

  • Year 1

    The first-year curriculum aims at strengthening the fundamentals of all areas of business and provides a holistic perspective of business management. The participants also develop a range of managerial capacities by engaging in various Immersive Experiences such as PGLab enables personal leadership growth. Abhyudaya helps develop mentoring skills and offers unparalleled insights about development issues and urban poverty. ADMAP help build managerial capacities. Social internships offered by DoCC develops the essential sensitivity and sensibility to societal issues of rural India and  grassroots development. SOS equips them with a holistic approach to conscious leadership and innovation practices to benefit the triple bottom line.

  • Year 2

    The second-year curriculum provides inputs in the chosen area of specialisation based on the participants’ career aspirations and relevant industry requirements. The participants can apply their practice focus management learnings in the real world through a two-month corporate internship programme. The three-week Global Fast Track (GFT) programme at a globally top-ranked B-School exposes participants to contemporary international business innovation practices and cross-cultural nuances of businesses across geographies.

PGDM is the only programme that offers the participants the flexibility to change their major specialisation and also choose a minor specialisation. Major specialisations, include:

Operations and Supply Chain

This specialisation provides integrated knowledge to manage the processes that span across different areas of the supply chain such as sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, transportation, inventory management, warehousing, and customer service.

Information Management

SPJIMR was the first to offer the Information Management (IM) specialisation in India with the foresight to develop business leaders who are able to interface with the industry and management with relevant insights and innovation practices.

Marketing

PGDM’s Marketing specialisation ranks amongst the top 5 in India and the top 50 in the world by QS Global rankings. It develops in participants’ deep understanding of the customer and the requisite skills to influence cross-functional decision-making.

Finance

The Finance specialisation equips the participants with a comprehensive understanding of theoretical and practical tools necessary to navigate the challenges of a rapidly changing global economy.
