February 20, 2017

The 61st batch of SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Executive Management Programme (PGEMP) was inaugurated on Monday 20th February 2017, with over 50 participants joining in from an expanded list of partner companies.

The partner companies, which include a wide range of corporates, this time included Perkins India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Caterpillar Inc., which is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines. With a history stretching back more than 80 years, Perkins is one of the world’s leading providers of diesel and gas engines.

The participants include those from Tata Capital, L&T, BPCL, Pidilite Industries, Ambuja Cements, amongst others.

“The growing list of companies signing on for the PGEMP is a testimony to the strength of the programme and the value corporates see in it,” Dr. Renuka Kamath, Chairperson of the PGEMP said.

Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee spoke on the five important properties of SPJIMR that flow from the vision and mission of the Institute: SPJIMR is socially sensitive, innovative, a school of management (rather than a B-School), and works to influence practice and build value-based growth.

“These form the crux of our Institute and the work we do here,” the Dean said. He asked participants to come with an open mind to the classroom to draw the best from the learning.

The Chief Guest at the function was Mr. Suman Biswas – Head HR at Perkins India. He said: “You have the opportunity to attend a management programme at a reputed institute and must take the learnings and the values and share them with others in your organisations and help bring about change.”
