COVID Warriors

SPJIMR’s PGPDM alumni and current participants speak about the work they have done in providing Covid-relief efforts

The Covid-19 outbreak has brought our lives to a standstill and has confronted the entire world with a crisis like never. With numerous businesses across the world having had to pull their shutters and most countries being under lockdown, the economy also took a severe hit, forcing everyone to fight the pandemic in the best way they can.

The coronavirus pandemic left the deprived communities in acute distress. It created additional developmental challenges for many people due to the inaccessibility of various basic facilities. As soon as the lockdown was announced lakhs of daily wagers and others who work in small businesses wished to return to their homes in rural India. Factories and establishments were shut and industrial activities came to a halt. Many of the workers who wished to return to their homes, began their long journeys home on foot after the sudden shutdown.

However, in the wake of such unprecedented calamity, our alumni, and batch participants, in their independent voluntary capacities have actively led initiatives on food distribution, safety, health, spreading awareness on social distancing, counselling and much more, in several parts of the country. They are making efforts to reach the most vulnerable and marginalised communities during such circumstances.

Rising above the pandemic constraints and helping others in need, today our alumni and participants “The real-life Covid warriors” are playing a pivotal role. They are the true warriors who are fighting on the frontlines and putting their own lives at risk to help the marginalised and vulnerable communities in every possible way.
