SPJIMR's Post-Graduate Programme in Development Management (SPJIMR PGPDM) hosted its first-ever virtual convocation ceremony on Saturday, 30th October 2021. Participants graduated from three batches, 15,16 and 17 in presence of their family members, SPJIMR faculty and staff.
The ceremony started with an invocation prayer. Addressing the gathering Dean, Dr. Varun Nagaraj spoke about the role the social sector should play in fixing free-market failure and expressed hope that the actions of the graduating participants will help create a world that is equal, sustainable, and just. The Programme Chairperson, Mr. Prabhat Pani read out the names of the graduating participants and showcased their virtual Graduation Certificates.
Mr. Paul Abraham, CEO of Hinduja Foundation, and ex-COO of IndusInd Bank was the Chief Guest for the occasion. In his convocation address, Mr. Abraham emphasized that the participants are in the cusp of a transformational period in the world and it was imperative to embrace innovative ways to use technology in solving problems in a post-pandemic world. He also shared with the graduating participants his three insightful mantras: The power of government, social impact space at the last mile, and the multiplier effect.
Prof. Dr Suranjan Das delivered the vote of thanks following which the Dean declared the ceremony closed.

The convocation ceremony of SPJIMR's Post-Graduate Programme in Development Management (PGPDM) for Batches 13 and 14 was held on Saturday (Jan 25, 2019) at the SPJIMR campus. The convocation marked the end of an exciting journey for the graduating participants and marked the beginning of their journey as PGPDM alumni, a rich network that will keep each one of the graduating students connected to SPJIMR, their batch mates and other PGPDM alumni.
The ceremony started with an invocation prayer and lighting of the lamp by the Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee. Addressing the gathering Dr. Banerjee spoke about the uniqueness of the programme and how it embodies the SPJIMR values. He said, "As an Institute we have a slogan: Courage and Heart. By virtue of the fact that you opted for this programme and that you are working in the development sector, you have already demonstrated Courage and Heart.”
The Programme Chairperson, Prof. Rukaiya Joshi presented the batch Report. Highlighting the diversity of the programme participants, Prof. Joshi elucidated on all the innovative learning interventions introduced.
Mr. Amitabh Dube, Country Head at Novartis Oncology, along with Dr. Banerjee, presented the Certificates for Scholastic Excellence and the distribution of the Graduation Certificates to the participants. The declaration of the ceremony being closed by the Dean was followed by the graduating batches throwing of their hats.
