Why Autumn and not Summer?
SPJIMR – PGDM students intern with top companies at the end of the third semester (Autumn/ Fall) and not at the end of the first year (Summer) for the following reasons:
- In the first year curriculum of business studies students are trained on fundamental courses of management, while a project in a company requires specialised knowledge of advanced courses
- The third semester aims to prepare the participants with specialised courses like finance, marketing, operations and information management; thereby enabling the students to apply this specialised knowledge in addressing complex issues in the companies
- The autumn project backed by advanced knowledge of the chosen specialisation, helps the students generate greater placement opportunities. The number of pre-placement offers (PPOs) and pre-placement interviews (PPIs) as an outcome of autumn internship has consistently been more than 40 % over the years.
