Historic Milestone for Indian Management Education |

SPJIMR is delighted to announce that Dean Varun Nagaraj has been elected to the Board of Directors of AACSB. This is a landmark moment, with SPJIMR becoming the first Indian business school to be represented on the Board in AACSB’s 110-year history. While individuals of Indian origin have served on the Board in the past, they have represented institutions based outside India.
Beginning July 1, 2026, Professor Nagaraj will serve a three-year term representing the Asia Pacific region, joining a select group of deans from AACSB member institutions worldwide.
We invite our community to celebrate this recognition, which reflects SPJIMR’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the impact of business education.

Zero Is Not Enough |
In WISE Tech Insights, SPJIMR’s newsletter on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology, the article “Zero Is Not Enough: Why Net Positive Companies Gain by Solving the World’s Problems” examines how organisations are moving away from extractive models toward “Net Positive” approaches, where businesses aim to restore the environment and contribute to society while remaining economically viable. It also explains why the future of competition is likely to favour organisations that expand their “handprint,” creating real, lasting benefits for future generations, rather than focusing only on reducing their footprint.
This shift reflects a rethink of the long-standing focus on “Net Zero.” While reducing harm remains important, aiming for neutrality is like pausing spending on a maxed-out credit card. It may slow the problem, but does not solve it. In a world already facing deep ecological and social challenges, doing less harm alone is no longer enough to ensure long- term business resilience.
