Supporting transformative studies on technology for societal impact

The Academic Track, to be held on February 21, 2025, shall comprise paper presentations on key themes around technology and its impact on society. In addition to traditional track-based presentations, the academic conference will feature ‘integrative’ talks from distinguished international scholars.

Indicative topics

The Academic Track’s focus is driven by the undeniable integration of innovative technologies into all areas of life, which has led to both expected and unexpected outcomes. Scholarly research highlights the importance of studying the intersection of technology and society, with existing literature providing valuable insights but still falling short due to the rapid pace of technological change. Recent technological advancements and global commitments to sustainable development necessitate a fresh perspective on how technology impacts society.

The main goal of our conference is to update and deepen the understanding of how fast-paced technological changes affect various sectors and functions globally. The conference aims to explore both the positive and negative aspects of technological transformation and its complex effects on contemporary society. We extend an invitation to academicians, industry professionals, and doctoral students worldwide to present their research on technology and societal impact at our conference. We encourage submissions from traditional management disciplines as well as interdisciplinary perspectives that explore various dimensions of technology and societal impact.

Within this broad umbrella, the indicative topics are as follows:

  • Producing, marketing, and investing wisely and responsibly
  • Innovating wisely and responsibly
  • Considering the environmental impact of new tech
  • Strengthening social interactions and community building
  • Enabling inclusion of gender/marginalised/other diversities
  • Examining barriers and resistance created by the digital divide
  • Balancing national security regulations and mandates
  • Adapting legal frameworks to address new technologies
  • Promoting sustainable and responsible consumption
  • Ensuring digital inclusion and equity
  • Addressing quality of healthcare and privacy violation concerns
  • Reshaping learning environments and redefining learner engagement
  • Exploring the dark side of technology and education
  • Analysing technology and the future of work: Beyond productivity and efficiency
  • Rethinking employee engagement/peer relationships at work
