Questions asked by aspirants/applicants

  • Am I eligible for the FPM Programme?

    You are eligible to apply for the FPM programme if you have

    • A first-class Master’s degree, an integrated first-class Master’s degree in any field, or professional qualifications such as CA, ICWA, or CS, with at least 60% marks.
    • A substantial work experience (over 10 years) and a requisite motivation and background to engage in a demanding research programme.
  • What details/documents do I need to submit during the FPM application process?

    You must submit the following:

    • Academic grades for Class X, Class XII, undergraduate, and postgraduate degrees.
    • A Statement of Purpose (SOP) detailing the motivation to enrol in the programme.
    • A clear indication and detailed elaboration of research interests (Research Proposal).
    • Three recommendation letters, with at least one being an academic reference.
    • An application processing fee of ₹1,000, payable via credit card, debit card, or net banking. This fee is non-refundable.
  • What do I need to know about the selection process for the FPM programme?

    • The shortlisting committee reviews the candidate’s academic credentials, work experience, profile, motivation, recommendations, and alignment with the institute’s research focus and mission.
    • Candidates who make it through the initial screening will undergo a two-stage interview process, which includes a Research Aptitude Test (RAT) and a personal interview. The RAT is divided into two sections: General Aptitude and Research Aptitude.
  • How do I prepare for the personal interview for the Fellow Programme in Management by SPJIMR?

    You will be required to write a RAT and attend a personal interview.

    While filling out the form, you will have two elements:

    • Your SoP is your statement of purpose and motivation. Why do you want to pursue a Ph.D? This will be highly personalised for each one of you.
    • The research proposal is on a topic you wish to work on, which we fully understand may not be of publishable quality. SPJIMR is not looking for perfection or mastery here. Applicants are shortlisted based on how much effort they have put in, their understanding of the subject, and their motivation.

    One of the ways you can showcase your passion is by studying a few research papers to see how it’s done. You can also emphasise the areas in which you want to work, and the reasons why you want to work in those particular areas.
