Spandan - 2009

December 12, 2009

Span“Our school is still in the process of nurturing young minds with the same aspirations that we had during our time… They see in us a glimpse of their future, as we see in them the shadow of our past.”

Spandan 2009, the Annual Alumni Reunion Meet of SPJIMR was held on the 12th of December. Spandan 2009 was all the more special because it saw participation of alumni from all programmes at SPJIMR – PGDM, PGPM, EMP and PGDIT. The excitement among the alumni was palpable!

The event saw participation of more than 250 alumni and many turned up with their spouses and kids. The function began with the lighting of the lamp by the Dean and several alumni. Itwas followed by an “Open house”, and an interactive session between the Dean and the alumni.

Dr. Sesha Iyer shared with alumni the happenings at SPJIMR over the last year. They were briefed about the SPJIMR Academic Conclave scheduled in January and the Abhyudaya programme. Thirteen ‘Sitaras’ (children mentored by SPJIMR under Abhyudaya) gave a cultural performance, notable among them being Taekwando performance by Vandana. The melodious musicians of PGP1 - Visram, Anoop, Shyam and Sivapriya performed to an applauding audience.

The major event of the day was felicitation of the batches that finished 5, 10 and 15 years of graduation across SPJIMR programmes. The batches of PGDM -1994, 1999, 2004, EMBA1 and PGPM1 were felicitated by Dr. Sesha Iyer, Dr. Indu Niranjan, Prof. A.B. Kulkarni and Prof. Palekar.

Several NGOs – schools for the blind, industrial home for special children etc. put up stalls near the dinner area. The meet concluded on a satisfactory note with a sumptuous dinner and fellowship, lasting till until the wee hours. Spandan met its purpose - the alumni truly relived the magical and nostalgicmoments of the yester years!
