PGPM participants attend seminar on Basel I and II

SPJIMR’s first and second year PGDM participants attended a special seminar on BASEL I and II conducted by Mr. Prakash Saboo. Mr. Saboo has been involved with the Credit RiskManagementGroup of SBI for the past 15 years. The session kick-started with a brief overview of the Banking System in India until the 1990s, and the relevance of the Narsimhan Committee in the formulation of the BASEL I concept post 1992 LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation). Further, BASEL II concepts of Three Pillar approach comprising of Minimum capital requirement, Supervisory review and Market disclosure were discussed. Finally, the road ahead for the Credit Risk was elucidated giving the participants immense insight into the buzzwords of finance today.
