Industrial Visit to Precision
Deep Draw August 6, 2009
A
group of 38 participants of PGP 09-11 batch of SPJIMR visited Precision
Deep Draw Ltd, a SME with an annual turnover of Rs. 15 crores. It is a
small firm which was started around 25 years back with limited capital
as a venture of a SSC pass participant Shri Bhupendra Visaria and Mr.
Ganatra who is also a successful entrepreneur and his son Kapil Ganatra,
is a budding business leader and a participant of SPJIMR FMB programme.
The firm which employs about 250 workers has about 150 product lines producing
on an average of 18000 products which keep changing according to the market
needs. The company focuses on stainless steel and mixer jars and their
major clients are Krompton, Kanchan, Maharaja and Usha etc. The visit
provided the participants with an excellent opportunity to closely study
a relatively organised SME from an unorganised sector. Moreover the visit
also kindled interest in entrepreneurship among the participants as the
visit and interaction with Mr. Visaria & Mr. Ganatra gave them a chance
to look at the various intricacies involved in starting a business from
the scratch and further establishing it.
Industrial Visit to Larsen &
Toubro Ltd.
After covering an unorganised private sector
entrepreneurial venture in Deep Draw Precision, 25
participants of PGP-09-11 batch along with faculty
coordinator Prof. Latha Nair visited Larsen & Tubro Ltd. The
visit was organised by alumnus of 1989 batch Mr. Mahesh
Phadke, EBG Group. The visit was kicked off with an
interesting video on what L&T does and an interaction with
the middle and senior level managers. The best part was
the visit to the shop floor in groups focussing on the
product display department which showcased the
products made in the division. Mr. Anil J. Patil, EBG & HR
Personnel group guided the participants through the visit
instilling a deeper understanding of the various industrial
processes and quality policies followed today.
