Faculty

A rich and lively student-teacher interaction is at the heart of SPJIMR's success. Our faculty members are known to be great teachers, who can bring alive the subject, encourage critical thinking and offer a wider, holistic perspective that is critical in today's complex business environment.

Our faculty members are drawn from academia, industry, government sector and non-profits. Collectively, they bring in a wide range of experience in building and delivering knowledge and skills to prepare participants for leadership roles.

The teaching-learning process at SPJIMR is vastly enriched by a series of non-classroom initiatives through which our faculty help build among participants the right attitudes to enable them lead with purpose, meaning and with an idea of service to society.

We have more than 44 full time faculty members, of which 28 are PhDs. The average experience of the core faculty is over 18 years, with several who have come to academics after years of experience as practitioners. In addition, we have over 14 adjunct faculty and several more visiting faculty who engage with participants of various courses.

Industry Experience

  • 1981 to 1987, Entrepreneur, executed contracts in Painting, Plumbing and Carpentry at national projects such as Kribhco, Hazira (Surat); RCF, Alibag; IPCL, Baroda, Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai
  • 1979 to 1981, Commercial Manager, Rathika Pvt. Ltd, overseeing all functions except production and accountable for revenue and profit objectives. This packaging unit dealt in flexible packaging with clients such as Hindustan Lever, Cadburys etc
  • 1975-1979, General Manager, The Metal Tray Manufacturing Calcutta Pvt. Ltd.  A merchant exports firm trading with the Middle East and Europe
  • 1968-1975, Export Officer, Kamani Metals and Alloys Ltd.  Export of copper alloys, sheets, strips, rods, tubes, zinc oxide and lead oxide to the Far East and Europe.

Current Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Manage “The Learning Odyssey” an initiative to continuously enhance the teaching capabilities of SPJIMR faculty

Visiting Faculty

Taught as visiting faculty at various institutes in India including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Kozhikode, MDI, Gurgaon and at Reutlingen University, Germany, Arthur Lok Jack GSB at Trinidad  and S.P.Jain Center of Management, Dubai and Singapore.

Management Development Programmes

Conducted and taught several training programmes for practitioners in the area of marketing, brand management, media marketing, Internet marketing, international marketing and marketing communication. The organisations catered to include: Godrej, Intas, GSK, Bajaj Electricals, Forbes Gokak, Indianoil, Mahindra & Mahindra, BOC, Core, Tata Motors, L & T, STC
and Dr. Reddy’s Labs.

Consulting

Have given consultancy to business and non-profit organizations in the areas of Marketing and General Management.
