Faculty

A rich and lively student-teacher interaction is at the heart of SPJIMR's success. Our faculty members are known to be great teachers, who can bring alive the subject, encourage critical thinking and offer a wider, holistic perspective that is critical in today's complex business environment.

Our faculty members are drawn from academia, industry, government sector and non-profits. Collectively, they bring in a wide range of experience in building and delivering knowledge and skills to prepare participants for leadership roles.

The teaching-learning process at SPJIMR is vastly enriched by a series of non-classroom initiatives through which our faculty help build among participants the right attitudes to enable them lead with purpose, meaning and with an idea of service to society.

We have more than 44 full time faculty members, of which 28 are PhDs. The average experience of the core faculty is over 18 years, with several who have come to academics after years of experience as practitioners. In addition, we have over 14 adjunct faculty and several more visiting faculty who engage with participants of various courses.

Overview

Dr. Tulsi Jayakumar

Professor
Programme Head-FMB

tulsi.jayakumar@spjimr.org

Dr. Tulsi has a first-class B.A. degree in Economics from Delhi University, where she completed her first year from Lady Shriram College and subsequently passed out from Hansraj College. She stood 2nd in college at the under graduation level. She was among the top 50 students in Delhi University to be considered for a direct admission into the Delhi School of Economics for an M.A. in Economics.

She was awarded the merit scholarship after my first year M.A. at D. School for being one of the top 5 candidates among a class of 120. In her Final year M.A., she secured the fourth rank at the Delhi School of Economics. This was particularly creditworthy because of the nature of the electives (not all being Quantitative-based).

Dr.Tulsi finished her M.Phil in Economics from the Delhi School in 1996. Her thesis entitled ‘Capital and Entrepreneurial Flows between South India and South and South –East Asia : 1900-1950’ was done under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Sanjay Subrahmanyam, an eminent scholar and one of the most well-known names in the field of Economic History today. She secured an A grade in my thesis and secured a first class in M.Phil as well. She passed the UGC NET examination in 1993.

Dr. Tulsi was awarded a PhD for her thesis entitled ‘Practice, Reporting and Communication of Corporate Social Responsibility in Indian firms’. This has been completed from the Department of Economic Administration and Financial Management, University of Rajasthan.
