Faculty

A rich and lively student-teacher interaction is at the heart of SPJIMR's success. Our faculty members are known to be great teachers, who can bring alive the subject, encourage critical thinking and offer a wider, holistic perspective that is critical in today's complex business environment.

Our faculty members are drawn from academia, industry, government sector and non-profits. Collectively, they bring in a wide range of experience in building and delivering knowledge and skills to prepare participants for leadership roles.

The teaching-learning process at SPJIMR is vastly enriched by a series of non-classroom initiatives through which our faculty help build among participants the right attitudes to enable them lead with purpose, meaning and with an idea of service to society.

We have more than 44 full time faculty members, of which 28 are PhDs. The average experience of the core faculty is over 18 years, with several who have come to academics after years of experience as practitioners. In addition, we have over 14 adjunct faculty and several more visiting faculty who engage with participants of various courses.

 I am an Associate Professor in the Finance Area at SPJIMR. I teach specialised courses in Finance on Investments, Derivatives, and Risk Management. Prior to this I have worked in the industry over over two decades in various areas in leading financial institutions in India. I have worked in the areas of Securities regulation, Fund Management, Equity research, Risk Management, Loan Portfolio Management, and Stressed Assets prediction and resolution. I am a B.Tech from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and an Associate of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. I am a Fellow in Management (Finance & Control) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). My areas of interest for teaching, research and consulting include Investments and Risk Management, and Stressed Assets Prediction and Resolution.

I have worked for over two decades in the industry and have subsequently been an Associate Professor in the Finance Area at SPJIMR. I teach specialised courses in Finance like Investments, Derivatives, and Risk Management.

I am a B.Tech from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and an Associate of the Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. I am a Fellow in Management (Finance & Control) from Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM) from Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP).

I have worked with reputed organisations such as Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Reliance Capital, and Cholamandalam Cazenove Mutual Fund. I have last served as Head – Portfolio and Market Risk Management at IDFC Ltd. and as Head - Early Warning Signals at IDFC Bank.

I was a part of the founding team at SEBI and was principally involved in setting up the desk for the first time entry of foreign institutional investors (FIIs) in India in the early 1990's. I have had the experience of researching the Indian equity markets and companies in the same period. Subsequently, for a few years, I was the Investment Strategist for a domestic and international fund managing equity and debt assets.

In the last two decades I have been enagaged in Market Risk, Asset Liability Management (ALM), Loan Portfolio Management, Stressed Assets Management, and Early Warning Signals (EWS) generation for IDFC Ltd and IDFC Bank. This rich experience of watching and dealing in the various stages of Indian markets has helped me gain a holistic understanding of the securities and loan markets.

I have been with SPJIMR since 2017. Apart from teaching, I am also consulting with the industry and researching in my specialised areas of Securities Markets, Risk Management,and Stressed Assets Management.

I have worked for over two decades in various areas across multiple financial institutions in India.

I was a key member of the team that set up the Foreign Institutional Investors (FII) desk at the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), immediately after the liberalisation of the Indian capital markets in the early 1990’s.

I was the Head of the Equity Research function as Reliance Share & Stock Brokers Ltd, which was a subsidiary of Reliance Capital Ltd.  I was also the Investment Strategist at Cholamandalam Cazenove Mutual Fund, which was a joint venture between the Murugappa group of India and Cazenove Partners of U.K.

I have served for most part of his career as the Head of Market Risk, Asset Liability Management, and Portfolio Management at IDFC Ltd. I was instrumental in setting up of these important functions and managed these for over a decade. I last served as the Head of the Early Warning Signals (EWS) function at IDFC Bank. I was leading the setting up of the framework for identifying early indicators of potential distress in the customers across all business segments of the Bank. While at IDFC Ltd, and IDFC Bank, I, along with my team members, was instrumental in establishing the policies, processes, reporting, and governance structures for the functions managed by me.   

I currently, teach and research in the areas of Investments, Derivatives, and Risk Management at SPJIMR. I bring in my past working experience in these areas to better understand, communicate, and research in these areas.
