Dandekar, Vice Chairman and Executive Director, Kokuyo Camlin Limited, in his commencement speech at the 28th Convocation Ceremony of SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGP-FMB).
Chief Guest, Mr. Shriram S. Dandekar, presided over the ceremonies along with Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, Mr. Vijay Sampat, Head, Centre for Family Managed Business and FMB Programme Chairperson, Dr. Tulsi Jayakumar.
The current FMB Batch 25 welcomed the excited, 100 participants of FMB Batch 22, who represented 47 assorted industries including manufacturing, service, FMCG industry, retail, mining; hospitality, etc. Mentors, families and friends, all had braved the Mumbai rains to attend in person the ceremony held at the SPJIMR campus, on July 18, 2018.
Chairperson, Dr. Tulsi Jayakumar presented an impressive batch report of the concluded academic session and regaled the families with anecdotes about the participants FMB journey. She recollected, “I remember the interviews with you and your mentors. Some interviews stood out from the others. An interview with a mother of three, past an age which most would not consider appropriate for sitting in a class room, was something I really remember and cherish. There she stood, with quiet confidence and brimming with passion and energy when I first met her, with an equally supportive mentor in her husband. Can we have a round of applause for Sarita Pansari, the woman who is a role model, for having the courage and the heart to join the program and to feature in the Deans top 5 today. These are what FMB stories are made up of.”
Sarita Pansari alongwith her batchmates Kalyani Sarnaik, Khushboo Parekh, Koushik Padmanabhan and Pratima Bora made it to the Dean’s Top 5.
Wishing success to the graduating participants, Mr. Vijay Sampat, Head, Centre for FMB, said, "The core driver for family business owners must be the desire to serve their customers and stakeholders. This driver will automatically push the organization to constantly innovate and seek better ways of meeting their expectations. This attitude will create an unstoppable momentum that will keep the business fresh and thriving for generations to come"
Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee congratulated the participants and their mentors and said, “You are going to go out into the world to be leaders. We see you as leaders, not only of your business but as leaders of the country. As you build and grow your businesses, you will generate employment and you will make the country a better place. That is the aspiration and expectation we have of you.”
Conferment of the convocation certificates was not an end of the relationships that the graduates had forged here; it was an initiation into the prestigious FMB alumni network for years to come.
